Shonenko 綠的海平線  (2006)

Directed by Liang-Yin Kuo  (60min)

During the War World II, Taiwan was under the occupation of Japanese.  At the end of the war, Japan needed manual labor to make aircrafts and recruited teenage boys from the island and shipped them to Japan by promising work and education.  Many of them perished under the American air raid bombing. This documentary retraced the lives of many survivors.  Director’s grandfather was one of the survivors, even though he never spoke about the past.  This film was selected as one of the MOMA’s Documentary Fortnight Series in Feb 2009.
