Chinese New Year Celebration  : Year of Snake

             Chinese New Year - inspired Art Activities (East Court)

11:30 a.m. - noon
             Dragon Dance and Chinese Yo-Yo Performance by the Chinese American Community Center Dragon Dance              Team and Yo-Yo Club (Fusco Hall)

12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
             Chinese Calligraphy and Chinese Dough Figuring Demonstrations (Fusco Hall)

1:00 p.m. - 1:40 p.m.
             Taiwanese Music Ensemble of New York (Auditorium; 1st performance)

2:00 p.m. - 2:40 p.m.

             Taiwanese Music Ensemble of New York (Auditorium; 2nd performance)

 

Taiwanese Music Ensemble Program

 

       1. Horse Racing  賽馬

             This piece indicated the image of Mongolians having horse racing festival.

       2. Harvest Drum (Guzheng)

             Composed by Zuji Li, was a famous guzheng piece with Shandong style.

       3. Green Bamboo Forest  竹林湧翠 (Yangqin)

             This piece shows the image of Southern west of China, the leisurely and carefree life of the minority nationalities.

       4. Suite of Folk Songs 民謠組曲 (Ensemble)

             A selection of folk songs including: Taohua Crossing the River 桃花過渡, Look Afar for the Spring Wind 望春風,              To toss coins 丟丟銅仔, Dance Music of Youth 青春舞曲, Below the Silver Moon Light 在那銀色月光下.

Hanlin Chinese Culture Association is pleased to present the Chinese New Year celebration: the year of Snake at the Delaware Art Museum on Saturday, February, 16, 11 am to 3 pm.

This year's program will feature the 12 Chinese zodiacs with traditional Chinese art activities, a dragon dance, Chinese yo-yo performance by the Chinese American Community Center, and a special musical performance by the Taiwanese music Ensemble of New York. The admission is free for this event. For additional information, visit www.delart.org. This is 7th annual Chinese New Year celebration in conjunction with the Delaware Art Museum and generous support by the Delaware Division of Arts and Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the U.S.
